As a result of this workshop, I’ve started to realize that my many shifting moods are not a sign that I’m “going crazy,” but rather deeply connected to my womanhood and menstrual cycle. This workshop offered a completely new perspective: you don’t have to force your body to meet every demand placed on you by work, family, or society. It’s not a weakness—or a sin—to step back and listen to your body’s signals. We were guided through the four key phases of the menstrual cycle and received advice on how to align our work with the emotional and physical rhythms of each phase. It helped me understand that it's okay not to perform at 100% all the time. Sometimes, the timing just isn’t right—and if we give ourselves a few more days, certain tasks can feel much easier and more natural. Unfortunately, our fast-paced lives often pressure us into constantly performing and multitasking. But in order to slow down, to be still, and truly understand what our bodies need, we must first be willing to listen. As the workshop reminded us: “You need to heal yourself before you can take care of others.” That’s something I’m still learning. Thank you, Ladies, for outlining new possibilities—I believe the next step is up to me. You’ve given me a valuable tool, and I just need a little time to apply it. The workshop was much needed! It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you know your body the best and are on top of your menstrual cycle. But it's very rare to actually listen to our bodies.
